PFAS Water Panel
A dedicated laboratory test for PFAS — the "forever chemicals."
Why a separate test? PFAS are a family of man-made chemicals that standard panels do not look for. They have been used for decades in non-stick coatings, waterproofing, foams and industrial processes, they persist in the environment, and they are invisible in water — no taste, no smell, no colour. Federal rules now limit the two best-known PFAS (PFOA and PFOS) in public water systems at extremely low levels — but those rules do not cover private wells. If your home is on a well, testing is the only way to know.
Early discovery protects the decision, not just the water. A PFAS result taken before you buy a home can change a negotiation. Taken early in ownership, it lets you choose treatment with full information — certified filtration exists for the best-known compounds — instead of discovering the question years later at resale, when the buyer asks and there is no answer.
What you get:
- A dedicated PFAS sample kit with the strict collection protocol these tests require
- Analysis by a certified laboratory using the standard EPA methods for drinking water
- Results for the panel's PFAS compounds, each with the laboratory's reporting limit stated — "not detected" means below that limit, never "PFAS-free"
- Tandem's plain-language summary: what the result means, how it compares with the federal limits for public systems, and the honest treatment options if anything is found
Honest limits: this panel covers its listed compounds; no standard drinking-water panel detects every PFAS chemical (some, like TFA, are outside these methods). We will always tell you what a test does and does not cover.
Best for: well households near airports, military sites, industry or fire-training areas; buyers doing full due diligence; anyone who wants a documented PFAS answer for their home. Not for: a general first panel — start with Essential if you have never tested.
